We were able to finally take a family vacation this year and it was so much fun! It was so nice just to get away for a few days and spend lots of time together! We left on a Wed afternoon and drove down to Idaho Falls to my sisters house. The kids were so excited to stay one night there and we super wired and didnt go to bed till late! Thurs we got up and got ready and we headed on our way but we stopped in Rexburg to do a few things. The kids absolutely love hearing stories about Travis and I and how we got engaged so we took them to the mountain where Trav proposed and we hiked to the top. The kids did awesome hiking and thought it was so fun going to R mountain (or mommy and daddys secret spot as Jacies calls it) After we hiked we got some lunch and headed to the park and met up with some friends. It was so fun to talk with them!! When we were first married living in Rexburg we hung out with them all the time but never get to anymore so it was so fun to catch up with them!!
We headed to Yellowstone that afternoon and got all checked into our room then headed into the park. The kids were sooooo excited to see the buffalo and elk!! They wanted us to stop at every buffalo we passed :)
We got back to our room and went to bed. Friday morning we went into the park again and went to Old Faithful. The kids thought that was so cool!! They wanted to run through it. haha. Travs parents and little brother were on their way up so after lunch we went to try and find them and on the way we saw 2 bears! The kids were able to see them pretty good and were so excited!
We found Jim, Cathy, and Talon and went for another drive around the park. We stopped to take a couple little walks which was Jacies favorite! Jacie drug Cathy all over taking her on 'adventures' I dont think Cathy had 2 seconds to herself :) After we got back to the condo we went swimming for a little bit then had dinner and went to bed!
Saturday morning Trav, Jim, and Talon got up early and went fishing and Cathy, the kids, and I met them in there a little bit later. They caught a few fish so they were excited!! We went to the stinky mud pots (this is what Boe was most excited for all weekend) and walked around them. We saw more buffalo, a few bears, deer, antelope, and elk this day as well. Then we went on a little hike and we were going to go fishing but the fish were spawning so we werent able to. It was so cool to watch the fish swim up the creek though!!
We left the pond and were driving to go look at something else and we saw on wolf! She was down eating on a elk that they killed (the biggest one we saw all weekend). It was so fun to see it and Boe was super excited because this boy loves 'wolf packs.' We got to Mammoth and walked around the hot pots there then headed back to the hotel.
Sunday we had to leave which was so sad! Vacations always go way too fast! It was so fun taking the kids there. Both Trav and I used to go to Yellowstone a ton when we were little but we hadnt been in like 5 years! We hope to make this an annual trip because it was so much fun!
